Airport un-licensing and business closures due to Velo cycle ride on 24 Sep

Following a lot of discussions and meetings with local traders and event organisers we were unable to make any headway in undoing the enforced closures this short notice event has brought upon us. Therefore, the airfield will be unlicensed on the 24 September until 1330 local time. I have taken this decision rather than close as this still gives us the ability to receive visitors should they wish to use us. I cannot make any changes regarding local road closures which will greatly affect our residents and business users, unfortunately, this means the airport being fairly inaccessible for the period of the closure. The café, antique centre and the majority of flying schools will be closed for the day. Any queries regarding this should be made to them direct. Thank you for your understanding, Regards, Mike.

Vaughan Meers

Many will be aware that Vaughan Meers, who contributed so much to Halfpenny Green in his organisation of the popular “Wings and Wheels” events at the airport over many years, sadly died unexpectedly. Vaughan’s drive and enthusiasm for the event will long be remembered by all of us here.
