JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Are you someone who wants to work in an air traffic environment and is passionate about aviation? Do you have excellent customer service skills and have the ability to multi task? If so, this could be the job for you and we would love to hear from you!
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Air Traffic Service Unit, here at Wolverhampton Halfpenny Green Airport. An Air Traffic Assistant aides the Duty Flight Information Service Officer in ensuring the unit runs smoothly. As we operate 7 days a week, the Air Traffic Assistant provides a vital role.
The role of Air Traffic Assistant has recently been enhanced. Assistants are now required to hold a Radio Operator's Certificate of Competence (ROCC), allowing the Assistant to provide an Air Ground Communication Service (AGCS) periodically - usually when the Duty Flight Information Service Officer requires a break. AGCS operators provide traffic and weather information to pilots operating on and in the vicinity of the aerodrome. Such traffic information is based primarily on reports made by other pilots.
As an Air Traffic Service Assistant, you will:
Provide an air ground communication service, periodically
Self-brief and ensure currency with charges and procedures
Maintain an accurate Movement Log
Operate Aldis Light, as directed by the FISO
Alter the Signal Square, when requested
Remain alert and inform the Duty FISO of anything outside the ordinary
Record important messages in the Watch Log
Take landing fees and prepare Flight Progress Strips
Periodically check AFPEX system for messages
Process Flight Plans via AFPEX
Coordinate the airfield Fire Crew during an emergency. May potentially require coordination with emergency services, in larger emergencies
Process out of hours movements
Maintain a clean and tidy working area
