With both hard and grass runways, Wolverhampton Halfpenny Green aerodrome is ideal for learning to fly and hosts four fixed wing training schools, one helicopter school and a microlight school. Each of these offer trial flying lessons so you can get a feel of what learning to fly is all about.
Originally built as an aerodrome for the Royal Air Force and opening in 1941, the airport now provides a thriving base for a number of general aviation operators and maintenance providers including: aircraft and helicopter flying schools, private aircraft operators, commercial operators, aviation and non-aviation related businesses. Ideally positioned in the centre of the UK, the airport is only seven miles to the south west of Wolverhampton and 20 miles from Birmingham.
