Runway 28 / 10 Return to Service

From the 1st March 2023 the airport started the process of returning Rwy 28/10 back in to service. This will make EGBO one of the few airfields in the country with 3 x hard runways.

Essential Information - Rwy 28/10


Circuit directions and heights are the same as other runways:

Fixed Wing -  Left Hand Circuits at 1000ft QFE
Rotary - Right Hand Circuits at 800ft QFE.

Standard overhead joins are requested - Fixed wing should not descend below 1300ft on the deadside if the rotary circuit is active.

Runway Dimensions

The runway lengths will remain the same as previous although the width is reduced from 23m to 18m.

Noise Abatement

 

Runway 28/10 has the following additional Noise Abatement : 
 

Departures, approaches, and visual circuits are to avoid direct overflights of Bobbington Village and Primary school (523043.848N 002 658.116W).

Taxiing

For Runway 28 taxiway 'F' (F1 to F2) will also be re-opened. Taxy clearances from the tower will also include an instruction to cross runway 34. However, this may be limited to A5 initially if traffic situations require it. So please listen to taxy instructions and give a full readback. Please note that there may also be a temporary grass taxiway between F1 and F2 used for a very short period. 

For Runway 10 taxiway 'A' (A2 to A1) will also be reopened. Taxy clearances from the tower will also include an instruction to cross runway 04. However, this may be limited to A3 initially if traffic situations require it. So please listen to taxy instructions and give a full readback.

 

Please note that Taxiways A and F are undulating in places - please taxy carefully (no quicker than a fast walking pace).
